BY BEL is an independent Australian fashion label, designed and handmade by Bel in Melbourne.

Created from a lifelong love of clothing, colour and making, BY BEL is about creating pieces that feel considered, expressive and genuinely special to wear.

No mass production. No unnecessary excess. Just beautiful clothing, made with intention.

It started with a love of clothes.

I've loved clothing for as long as I can remember.

I was taught to sew by my mum when I was young, and although sewing came in and out of my life over the years, something changed during Melbourne's lockdown in 2020.

I picked up my sewing machine again.

And I couldn't stop.

What began as making clothes for myself quickly became a deep fascination with garment making, pattern cutting, fabric, fit and design. I spent countless hours learning, experimenting and refining my craft.

Eventually, friends started asking where my clothes were from.

They weren't from anywhere.

I'd made them.

And that was the beginning of BY BEL.

From making clothes to creating BY BEL

What started at my sewing machine slowly grew into something much bigger.

I wanted to create a label that felt like me — colourful, feminine, individual and a little unexpected.

A label where clothing isn't simply produced and sent out into the world, but thought about, designed, cut, sewn and finished with care.

I've continued to develop my skills through study in fashion, expanding my knowledge of garment construction, pattern making and design.

And today, every BY BEL piece still comes from that same love of making.

BY BEL is proudly made to order.

When you place an order, your garment is made specifically for you. Rather than producing large quantities of clothing before they're wanted, I make what is actually ordered.It means less unnecessary stock, less waste and more time spent on each individual garment.

It also means something quite special:

your BY BEL piece has been made by a real person, not a production line.

From choosing fabrics and preparing patterns to cutting, sewing and finishing, I take care of the process here in Melbourne.

The person behind every BY BEL garment.

I'm Bel — designer, maker, pattern cutter and the person behind BY BEL.

What began with my mum teaching me to sew has grown into a business built around the thing I love most: making clothes.

I'm endlessly inspired by colour, fabric, fashion and the women who wear what I create.
